Recurring Barriers to Implementing Organizational Learning and Action Science

This report summarizes recurring themes compiled from research Collaborative Action has conducted on hidden barriers to implementing organizational change and organizational learning. We identified and cataloged eight major barriers including:

  1. Difficulty getting executive buy-in and support
  2. Difficulty demonstrating the measuring the value of organizational learning
  3. Difficulty understanding organizational learning and its theories and concepts
  4. Difficulty getting buy-in and support from customers, peers, and others
  5. The company is moving too fast
  6. Pockets of innovation don't expand into the organization
  7. Unproductive reactions to organizational change
  8. Management does not walk the talk

These barriers are genuinely difficult to deal with given the current state of the art in change management and organizational learning. Collaborative Action is available to discuss these issues and how we would implement and test robust solutions to address them.
